Brandon Bay is located on the northern tip of the Dingle Peninsula in the parish of
Castlegregory. It's a horseshore shaped bay which works with most winds because of the shape and picks up most swells although is sheltered from westerlies. Brandon Bay has received a Beatha
Environmental Quality Award for it's outstanding scenery and cleanliness.
Ireland is fast becoming the place to visit, with
renowned big-wave riders heading over seeking big surf at the drop of a
weather forecaster's hat. If you just want a cool, culture-packed surf destination with a great chance of getting some waves, Ireland is a great place. Even when it's onshore and raining (and this ain't unknown) you
can find a cool pub, hotel or restaurant to while away the time, and Irish
hospitality is famous. Guesthouses, bed & breakfasts and smaller
hotels are often family run and surfer-friendly, with all the surfing facilities you could want. Ireland isn't cheap, due to the cost of the petrol you'll
need to drive around and find the best breaks, but few fail to
appreciate the variety of waves and the beauty of the country. Loads of
surf lodges, surf shops, hire shops and surf schools (often run by
Irish champs) are appearing - the surf scene in Ireland is growing huge, so get in there for a surf trip before everyone knows about
it…
